The Biblioteca Pública Arús is a research centre specialing in specialistrary contemptial movements, mainly workers' and Masonic, and a 19th and early 20th century documentary collection.
Founded in 1895 at the bequest of free mason Rossend Arús, it was located in his home at Passeig de Sant Joan, 26. Specifically donated to the people of Barcelona, it was the most advanced popular Catalan library of the time.
Over the years and with the logical vicissitudes of this long period of time, especially after the Spanish Civil War and its ill-fated consequences, the library has become a point of reference for students and researchers of culture, history and society.
