Tarragona was founded by the Roman emperor Augustus as the capital city of Hispania Citerior (Nearer Spain) and its Cathedral, in the Romanesque & Gothic styles, was built in various stages between 1154 & 1195 on the site of the original pagan Temple from the age of Tiberius.
